Creating bespoke, unique spaces which enhance the lives of our clients and their families with a focus on sustainability and resilience is at the heart of what we do. This has been central to our project in NW London where we are redesigning our client’s garden to create an inviting, inspiring and ecological space suitable for 3 generations.

The garden already had an established tree canopy with a large eucalyptus and birch trees along with a diverse array of other shrubs and trees. Our design centres around these beautiful existing mature trees, with key features throughout the garden drawing you in on a journey to adventure out into the wider garden - from intimate relaxation spaces to large terraces for entertaining, there are a variety of areas to explore. The scheme creates 3 distinct habitat zones within the garden: wetland, woodland and meadow. Each space has its own unique character and atmosphere whilst feeling unified and coherent. This approach will allow for different ecological habitats to develop within the garden including a riparian zone and mounded beds for more drought tolerant meadow species, with edible plants woven throughout the planting design as well as some dedicated spaces for more traditional annual vegetable growing. We have designed the wetland area to benefit from rainwater run-off from our client’s roof: excess water is redirected from the main downpipe into a stone rainwater rill that leads down to the 'rain garden'. Additional rainwater harvesting, recycling and reuse comes from an overflow pipe from the child-safe reflection pool at the centre of the garden. All of this creates a diverse planted area with a myriad of environmental niches and moisture gradients - showcasing resilient plants that can cope with dry to wet conditions. The overall design will deliver a wild, natural and relaxed aesthetic which provides interest throughout the year from the vibrant, colourful height of summer to the cool, crisp depths of winter. As with all our projects, we have designed this garden to last, enhance the lives of our clients and the natural world, with the ever evolving space to be enjoyed & delighted in.
